Echoes of Canada is a recording project that places Canadian poetry at its core, reimagined through newly composed classical music. Supported by the Ontario Arts Council through the Album Recording Grant, this project seeks to reflect the depth and beauty of Canadian poetic voices while offering a fresh musical interpretation that subtly draws on Middle Eastern colours.
The poems are not merely an inspiration, they form the structural and emotional foundation of each musical piece. The composer engages with the poetic material intimately, shaping verses into musical form and crafting soundscapes that resonate with the rhythm, imagery, and emotional undercurrents of the texts.
While the composer is currently working on the first selected poems, we are simultaneously exploring a broader range of Canadian poets and poems, and reaching out to copyright holders to obtain the necessary permissions. Our goal is to build a body of work that honours the literary richness of Canada while expanding its reach through sound.
We welcome your interest and support as we continue shaping Echoes of Canada into a unique contribution to both literary and musical culture.
